Title: The Milky Way in gamma-rays
Speaker: Ruizhi Yang
Abstract: Our Galaxy is bright in gamma-ray band. Those gamma-rays are mainly produced by the interaction of cosmic rays (CR) with the interstellar medium (ISM), thus can provide us important information on the origin of CRs and distribution of ISM. In this talk I will discuss the gamma-ray observations of the Giant Molecular clouds (GMCs), the Galactic plane and the Galactic Center (GC),especially from LHAASO, and discuss the possible implications.
Bio: Prof. Ruizhi Yang got the Bachelor degree in theoretical physics in university of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in 2007. He obtained his PhD in Purple mountain observatory in 2013. After 6 years postdoc career in Max-plank-institute for nuclear physics in Heidelberg, Germany, he joined the department of astronomy in USTC in 2019. His main research interests are gamma-ray astronomy, cosmic ray science.
